Top 5 Architecture Websites

When choosing websites, it is all about what you are looking for. The websites that made it onto this list can either be used as a resource of interesting projects or as an information board to keep you up to date with worldwide architecture news.

  1. Architonic: Describes itself as “the independent resource for architecture and design” and provides a very good resource of interesting projects and people. Special mention to the “news & trends” column.
  2. Archdaily and Architizer: They are both two of the most visited websites and offer extensive lists of prestigious and innovative projects around the globe. They can serve very similar purposes, hence they are grouped into one entry.
  3. Archinect: Aims to "make architecture more connected and open -minded and bring together designers from around the world to introduce new ideas from all disciplines". Very good source of information about architecture-related studies, jobs and competitions.
  4. The Architectural Review: High-quality essays and commentary along with architecture news.
  5. Paper-li: This website is something like your local newspaper stand: You can find a huge amount of online papers of literally any subject. Among them there are many interesting architecture articles.

Top 5 Architecture Blogs

As there are blogs about anything, from howtoboilanegg.wordpress.com to upsidedowndogs.com and thetheoryofeverythingblog.com there are bound to be blogs about architecture. And there are many. Mostly posting photos of projects that were previously published elsewhere.  So, here are a selection of the top 5:

  1. Life of an architect: US based architect that shares his views on matters related to architecture. A blog iterestingly based on text rather than images and a very enjoyable read.
  2. Archi-Ninja: Started and managed by a young architect based in Sydney, this blog offers fresh news and opinions on architecture.
  3. An Architecture: This is "an Austrian based but internationally focused blog related to architecture and architectural thinking: a resource for people in the orbit of architecture". Nice and simple with lots of interesting facts and figures about architecture.
  4. How to become a famous architect: The UK based blogger's mission is to "liberate minds". Hmm, I am not sure about that, but the blog is definitely pleasant and at times entertaining to read.
  5. Urbanphoto: And yes finally something on urbanism, "a blog about cities, people and place" with contributors from all over the world.
If you are following any source of Architecture online that you really enjoy that I have not mentioned please add to my list by posting in the comment box below.

I will be back soon with Architecture on social media platforms...
